The music I create is soul and rap music, which I call southern soul rap. This sound is rooted in southern soul, as I grew up around my parents, who honored and listened to it. Influences like Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, The Temptations, and more have shaped my musical taste and what I create. During my teenage years in the 1990s, southern rap was huge, making my transition to singing natural, even though I started with rap. I started like many other soul singers, My grandmother took me to church and had me sing there. I loved it and that was the start of my talent, but as a teen I gravitated to rap music and limited my singing ability to hooks. Drake's success in blending singing and rapping showed me it was possible, for which I am grateful. Southern soul rap is in my roots and reflects my musical journey, blending the soulful sounds of my upbringing with the vibrant energy of modern rap.
